1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Legent platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you are using Legent on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
2. Description of Service
Legent provides AI-powered legal research tools, including semantic search, case analysis, annotation, memo composition, and citation management across Latin American jurisdictions. The platform is designed to assist legal professionals and is not a substitute for professional legal judgment.
3. Account Registration
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account. Notify us immediately at support@legent.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Legent only for lawful purposes consistent with professional legal practice. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or models of the platform. You may not use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or bulk-download content from Legent.
5. Intellectual Property
Legent and its content, features, and functionality are owned by Legent, Inc. and are protected by intellectual property laws. Court rulings indexed in the platform are public records; our proprietary contribution consists of the indexing, analysis, annotation, and presentation layers. Your research content, memos, and annotations remain your property.
6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Legent's AI features are designed to assist, not replace, professional legal analysis. While we strive for accuracy and verify citations against primary court records, AI outputs may contain errors. You are solely responsible for verifying all information before relying on it in legal proceedings or advice.
7. Subscription and Payment
Access to Legent requires a paid subscription. Pricing, billing cycles, and payment terms are as set forth in your subscription agreement or as displayed at the time of purchase. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.
8. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.
9. Data and Privacy
Your use of Legent is subject to our Privacy Policy and, for enterprise customers, our Data Processing Agreement (DPA). We do not use your research content to train or improve machine learning models.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Legent's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim. Legent shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legent, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform or violation of these terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Colombia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Bogotá, Colombia.
13. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-platform notice at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
